Assistant Manager Trainee

The Assistant Manager Trainee is the introductory position within the management structure. Trainees are exposed to the basic operations system and management skills that will become the building blocks for future growth. The degree and duration of this exposure will, of course, be different for those hired directly to the position than for those promoted from Swing Manager. This position begins the establishment of the knowledge and skills to become a Restaurant Manager.

The Manager Trainee is responsible for:

  •
    • Frequently talking to customers to measure and improve their satisfaction with their McDonald's experience.
    • Using basic human relations, communications and follow-up skills and treating crew members as customers.
    • Managing opening and closing shifts with supervision.
    • Maintaining critical standards for holding times, service speed and quality, raw and finished product quality, cleanliness and sanitation.
    • Controlling labor, waste, cash and yields while managing shifts.
    • Knowing and enforcing all appropriate personnel policies, labor law, security and safety procedures.
    • Managing customer complaints.
    • Supervising delivery of raw products, preparing people, equipment and products for the shift.
    • Training people on crew stations.
    • Using S.O.C.s to verify crew performance and give feedback to the person and the Management team.
    • Completing assigned daily paperwork, including inventories, cash sheets, drawer counts and deposits.
    • Being able to perform all crew stations, including maintenance.
    • Following up on the maintenance person during the shift.
    • Performing daily basic equipment checks and making minor temperature and time adjustments.

Criteria for Promotion to Second Assistant:

  • Proficiency in basic store operations, including knowledge of all stations and the ability to successfully run shifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional attire.
  • Completion of Food Safety Course Vol. 1. This phase of training should be completed in approximately 90 to 150 days.
  • OR completion of Food Safety Course Shift Certification.
  • Successful completion of Shift Management Class.
  • Completion of Shift Management Action Plan (4-6 weeks after receipt from your Supervisor).
