Camp Mickey D's

This year marked Camp Mickey's D's 11th anniversary, as students from across the city participated in the week long event at 15 McDonald’s campsites in and around the San Antonio area. The job readiness program pairs high school students with local educators and McDonald’s job coordinators for a week-long training session that focuses on teaching basic work skills and assisting participants in establishing a foundation for success in any job. Camper learn important skills such as working in a team environment, personal hygiene, customer service, safety and security in the workplace, communication skills, problem-solving and job preparation. The camp highlights the importance of finishing high school and continuing on to college by introducing students to career pathways that are open to them in any company - even at their neighborhood McDonald's! Camp Mickey D's was developed by local McDonald's owner, Sybel Pici and Elizabeth Platt, the North East Independent School District Career and Technology Education Director.
